Dynaudio LYD-48 Test

Fazit

  • vertikales Design
  • hochwertiger Sound
  • digitales Innenleben und Filter

  • Grundabstimmung etwas Hi-Fi-lastig

Apologies for commenting in English; I can read German well enough but writing is a different matter. After reading your review I was wondering: it seems like you started listening and comparing the tonal character of the LYD 48 to your LYD 7 speakers straight out of the box, and found the mid frequencies lacking. In my experience, this is precisely the area that benefits greatly from "breaking in" the speakers by having them play for 24 hours at a significant volume. Did you notice any improvement in the mid area now that you have had more time to listen to them?

Hi Peter, thanks for your comment. You are right, the introduction could be missunderstood. But I always break in speakers before listening to them, so there was no old vs new what you might suspected. I also wouldn't describe the lack of mid details as a result of stiff membran. It is a design decision for me. Again: it's not drastic, but I would expect something different from a 3-way studio speaker.

Sorry for writing in English too, I too also am rather surprised by this review, always check for Bonedo reviews (more trustworthy than some) via Chrome translate so saw this in passing. I already had a set of lyd 7 that are truly wonderful and wanted to expand to a 5.1 rig. So I went for these as the main L/R and ordered an additional 7 for the centre. They finally came from my dealer last week (was waiting for a while) but it does sound like the pair you had either wasn't broken in properly or were faulty, as your review doesn't sound at all like my experiences. Initially my set did sound a bit mid presence lacking at first and were HiFi too with a mid scoop, but was told that they needed to be broken in for at least 48 hours before any serious listening, if not longer. Once they were bed in, then everything just opened up. The mid range is even better than the 7 and the imaging/width is simply stunning to my ears.
Anyway this isn't reviews purchase remorse, as I'm completely happy with the lyd 48, but for some reason I always check and find negative write-ups on bits of equipment I own just after i've bought them.

/// hi there! As I received a lot of questions regarding the mids lack, we will review another pair to see if this might has something to do with the preseries model I reviewed earlier. /// LG/best, Felix

Hi Samuel, a 5.1 rig is exactly what I plan for with those speakers. Stereo music remains the main application, though. Consequently, I will get the 48 for front L/R, as well. :) Allow me a few questions. Why did you chose the 7, instead of the 8 as center? This to my knowledge is the main channel in 5.1/7.1 and it should deserve the same attention as the front L/R in a 2.0/2.1 application. Furthermore, which multichannel A/V-receiver (with balanced XLR outputs) do you use? Thank you!

Hi there all together! I got a new Pair of LYD-48 out of the actuall production line and i have to say they deliver more mid details and have a less "hifi-ish" sound. Its not drastic but still gets them half a star more.
